One of the things that binds all humans together is the experience of both joy and sorrow in life. This is especially evident when working in the healthcare and human services field. In our profession, it is important and essential to understand the process of grief not only for others, but ourselves. It’s not as easy to provide excellent care in the bad times as it is in the good; but since grief and loss are part of the human condition, we need to be prepared to support our clients and their loved ones in times of grief, and also be able to manage our own emotions as we deal with people who are enduring sadness and loss. This course will familiarize you with the typical signs and patterns of grief and how to recognize them in others, give you strategies for helping clients face difficult times, and enable you to develop your own emotional management and coping strategies as a healthcare or human services worker. At the end of this course you will be filled with hope and gain a new understanding of grief and loss.

In this course, we will discuss how grief affects members, their family and friends, and the caregiver.  We will discuss the stages of grief and compare grief and mourning across cultures.  We will learn how to best communicate with the bereaved, how to identify your own feelings of grief, and how to practice self-care.

You’re well on your way to providing Habilitation Services. Sounds important, right? That’s because it is!  Helping others learn new skills and achieve their highest degree of independence is quite meaningful work. It requires enthusiasm, an obligation to the person you work with, as well as training in specific interventions that are likely new for you.  In the beginning, it is mission critical to get to know the member and take the necessary steps to establish a relationship where the member not only trusts you but finds you socially reinforcing. This may take some time, but it is a foundation that allows for you to make an impact in your services.  In this course, we will give you a comprehensive understanding of what habilitation services are all about.  Then we will jump into teaching you some skills and strategies to be a successful provider of habilitation services.

If you have already completed Habilitation 101, welcome back!  By the end of today’s course, you’ll have a better understanding of the principles of reinforcement, teaching strategies like shaping and chaining, prompting procedures, as well as familiarity with maintenance and generalization.

If you have already completed the prerequisite coursework, welcome to the final course in the Habilitation series!  In Habilitation 103… we will deep dive into ABC’s of behavior, the four basic functions of behavior, antecedent-based interventions, and how to identify replacement skills to teach as well as consequence -based interventions.

This new industry-specific training program is a collection of easy-to-digest pieces of information on all the things you need to know to find success in your role as a HCBS Supervisor or Manager.  AHCCCS and the Division of Developmental Disabilities policies and procedures will be explored, along with advocacy, management, and leadership strategies. Who are these programs for? This program is geared for agency owners, new and seasoned supervisors or managers, administrative assistants, and customer service staff. Upon completion of this course you will be able to understand the origins of HIPAA legislation, define “Personal Health Information” as HIPAA states it, understand what type of information is protected under HIPAA, understand penalties and consequences of failure to follow HIPAA guidelines, and know what you (as a health and human services worker) must do to protect people’s privacy.

This training provides an overview of incident reporting guidelines, requirements, and the importance of documentation. It includes information about the new Incident Report Form from DDD. Participants will learn the basics about incident categories and levels.

Este curso proporciona información sobre el hospicio y la filosofía detrás de él. También cubriremos qué servicios se brindan generalmente, cuidados paliativos, alivio del dolor sin medicamentos, atención al final de la vida y cómo cuidarse a sí mismo como cuidador.
