The Basic Life Support (BLS) program is for participants to gain or improve knowledge and skill proficiency in high-quality CPR skills and teamwork for the adult, child, and infant. HSI Basic Life Support (BLS) reflects the latest resuscitation science and treatment recommendations published by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), and it conforms with the 2020 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC and the annual Guidelines Update. Continuing Education Hours Available: Emergency Medical Services (CAPCE) and Dental Professionals (AGD/PACE). Class Audience: The intended audience is individuals who are healthcare providers (in and out of hospital), public safety professionals in a variety of occupational settings, or individuals enrolled in healthcare and public safety career training programs who require BLS training.   NOTE: You will receive a link within 24 hours of registration to the online course.  This email will come from ASHI (American Safety and Health Institute) – not APT.  If you don’t receive an email, please check your spam.  You will need to bring documentation of completion for the online component before skills testing (this can be printed out or you can access it on your phone and show the instructor. This course will not be taken on APT'S Website, it will be completed on ASHI's (American Safety and Health Institute). Please reach out to customer service for the in-person skills test out class.

The Bloodborne Pathogens course includes information that will help students understand what bloodborne pathogens are and how risks of exposure can be reduced for themselves and others.  This class is perfect for any individual or employee who has a reasonable anticipation of contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials as a result of performing designated job duties.

The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program gives teenagers and young adults everything they need to know for safe and successful babysitting. From getting started with a business, to working with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips- you will have a blast! Course Topics Include Babysitting as a business Safety and injury prevention guidelines and best practices Leadership strategies to build confidence when responding to conflict Tips on age-appropriate play How to build rapport and stay engaged with children Basic caregiving skills such as feeding, burping, diapering, and safe sleep practices Basic first aid for common incidents

In this class, you will receive general information and resources regarding choking risk awareness and prevention. This course meets the Arizona ADH requirements for Choking and Aspiration.

Following this training, participants will have an understanding of accountability, responsibilities, documentation requirements, and record retention. This course meets the Arizona ADH requirements for Client Fund Training.

Compassion Fatigue is not just a “fluffy” term for burnout. It depletes not just your mind and your body, but the very core of who you are as a human being-your emotions, your soul. Oftentimes taking the form of disdain for the frailty of humanity, this psychological foe can lead a person, who at one time entered the field of healthcare out of compassion, to walk away cynical and jaded.  Whether you’re caring for a friend or family member with a terminal illness or you’re a trained medical professional, compassion fatigue is one of the deadliest adversaries any healthcare personnel can face.
