The Blue Envelope Program is an initiative to improve interactions between law enforcement officers and individuals with autism or other communication challenges during traffic stops or similar encounters. The program uses a specially marked blue envelope that contains essential documents, such as a driver’s license, vehicle registration, and insurance card, along with information about the driver’s communication preferences and needs. The program aims to reduce misunderstandings, de-escalate potentially stressful situations, and promote safety and mutual understanding.
